Behind any great club are great people. Local rugby across all levels of competition wouldn’t be a success without the generosity and community spirit of these tireless volunteers.

In recognition of this, the Charter Hall Community Spirit Award has been created to highlight, celebrate and reward the volunteers who have made a significant contribution to their Shute Shield club and share their incredible stories.

The award will celebrate up to two nominees from each of the twelve Shute Shield clubs, with the winner to be announced at the Catchpole Medal Dinner on 10 August 2022.

Peter Watkins, General Manager of Sydney Rugby Union, says the Charter Hall Community Spirit Award helps bring unsung heroes to the forefront of community recognition within our game.

“Each of the nominees have displayed a strong commitment to care, connect and unify the game of rugby in NSW,” he said.

“This includes an ability to foster a sense of community within our clubs, engaging an empowering new participants and being a source of motivation and encouragement for supporters of all levels.

“To have these nominees recognised on 10 August alongside our Catchpole Medal nominees is recognition of Shute Shield excellence on all levels, from our volunteers to our players.

“These nominees are the backbone of the Charter Hall Shute Shield so it’s vital their hard work is celebrated.”

In the week’s leading up to the Catchpole Medal Dinner, each of our Charter Hall Community Spirit Award nominees will have their stories featured by Shute Shield Media.
