In continuing our series previewing the individuals nominated for the Charter Hall Community Spirit Award read below the remaining profiles for our 2023 nominees.

Gerard Langdon - Eastwood

Gerry has been a regular fixture of Eastwood rugby for over 50 years. His love of Eastwood is driven by a passion to ensure each player and member is cared for like family. Having grown connections across the game both locally and abroad, Gerry’s knowledge of the game is his way of connecting Eastwood to the greater community.

Tim Carrol - Gordon

Tim is a longstanding and loyal member of the Gordon rugby community. Acting as ground announcer at every Gordon home game, Tim is committed to the fairness and integrity of each match. Tim makes it his business to welcome and liaise with the match day refereeing officials, ensuring transparent and consistent messaging throughout each match. As a passionate rugby tragic, Tim treats everyone he comes across equally and recognises the importance of and commitment to his local club.

Stewart Hazell - Hunter Wildfires

Ever generous with his time and commitment to the Wildfires, Stew will volunteer his time photographing all levels of rugby, from junior carnivals to the Shute Shield. Stew’s ability to capture the happiness that rugby brings to our community entices participation, bringing people from all across our area together on match day. Our club is a place for families and friends to gather and celebrate rugby - Stew’s photography plays a pivotal role in capturing this for the entire Hunter region.

Richard Maude - Northern Suburbs

Richard’s love for the Shoremen is like no other; he is passionate about the program and wants its see players and staff at all levels succeed. Richard’s dedication, can-do attitude and selflessness fully encapsulate everything that the Club stand for. His ability to include all players and engage with all fans personifies our Club and is appreciated by all. Richard is part of the fabric of Northern Suburbs, a true clubman in all aspects.

Trevor Walker - Southern Districts

As the sole Team Manager for all three Colts teams, Trev plays a crucial role in leading and organising the group, whilst also providing a leadership presence across the grades. Trev is the glue that keeps all things moving, and a friend to everyone across the coaching staff, medical team and all volunteers. His ability to unite our Colts program and inspire a group of men from

all parts of Sydney is incredible and ensures the success of the Club. Trev’s dedication is admired by all and he is a model for others who wish to contribute and exemplify the same values.

Kim Hogarth - Warringah

Happy to support the Club in any role necessary, Kim is a truely loyal member of the Warringah Rugby Club. Kim’s friendly face connects all members of our community, ensuring everyone, including visiting players and fans feel appreciated at Rat Park. Kim values the purpose that Warringah is built around and showcases the values of unity and service in all that she does for the Club.

Ross Hansen - West Harbour

A loyal Pirate for over 10 years, Ross’ understanding and assurance on game day ensures all things run smoothly. Ross goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone within the Club feels welcome and inspired. He ensures everyone at the ground has a smile on their face and is enjoying their rugby, regardless of the result on the field.

Wendy Tointon - Western Sydney Two Blues

Wendy stands as a beacon of care and compassion for the entire Two Blues family. With an unwavering commitment to everyone within the Club, Wendy goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels valued and supported. She tirelessly works to ensure that players of all skill levels have a place to come together, forge lasting friendships and experience the joys of rugby. Wendy actively promotes open communication, encouraging dialogue and collaboration among players and coaches, whilst seeking input and feedback from the wider community.
